Brazil has decided not to impose antidumping duties on Korean flat-rolled coated steel products, paving the way for local steelmakers to better compete there, Seoul's trade ministry said Wednesday.

According to the ministry, the Brazilian government has wrapped up its 18-month probe into the allegation that South Korea's flat-rolled coated steel products were sold at below-market prices in the Latin American country.

The Brazilian government, however, concluded that South Korean steel products did not cause any damage in the Brazilian steelmaking industry, it said.

South Korean steelmakers, led by POSCO and Hyundai Hysco, exported US$132 million worth of flat-rolled coated steel products to Brazil last year, compared with $215 million a year earlier, according to the government data.
